Upgrading One Digital Life

A while back I wrote about how I had plans for this site that would involve changing the format a bit. Tonight I took the first (baby) step towards that goal. I updated my ancient install of WordPress to the current version (2.2.1).

You may have noticed that the site looks a fair amount different now too. This theme isn’t actually one that I made. It’s called Blog oh Blog, by Bob Jiwakacau. Although I’ve said it before, at some point I actually will make my own theme, but in the meantime I needed to ditch the one that I had been using. It was so old, and had so much legacy junk in it that it was basically being held together with duct tape and rubber bands. I didn’t think it could hold up to upgrading WordPress (and I was just sick of looking at it). Although this theme is quite a bit different than anything I’ve used before, I like it (with a little tweaking).

  2. I’m itching to do this myself, but time is always an issue. I agree about the ads, they need a bit of tweaking so they don’t stand out as much.

    I like the 3 column design though. Looks good so far!

    I agree about the ads, though… A little too much. How about a subscription model, that lets us pay not to see them? I bet I’d pay more for that, than you get by me clicking the Google-ads (because I never do…)

    Coincidentally, I just changed my blog a bit, too. Well, o.k., just the name. And maybe a renewed commitment to more frequent posting.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’ll be addressing the ads. It probably won’t be for a few days, as I’m doing a little test. I’ll talk more about that later.

  7. Interestingly, I started Adsense up on my own blog about a month ago, mostly out of curiosity, as well as to learn more about it. I’ve made a whopping $.32 so far. Haha, not my intention to make money that way though.
