Don’t Hassle the Hoff

This has been out for a while, but I finally got around to watching it. Oh… My… God! I sincerely hope that this wasn’t meant as a serous music video. I like to think that he is poking fun at himself, but I’m not so sure that’s the case.

The video promotes the “hofficial” Australian music tour, “Hasselhoff: Ready for action“. The site currently says the tour was postponed so that ‘Hoff’ could shoot a new TV pilot. New show dates were supposed to be announced in February, 2006. Apparently they’re a little late.

The sad thing is, when I was a kid, I actually really liked Knight Rider. As an adult, I’ve realized just how horribly awful, or should I say Hofful, the show really was. Unfortunately it was the benchmark for his entire career.

Is it just me, or does his face seem a little too tight?

  1. A few weeks ago, I was (un)fortunate enough to catch the Knight Rider pilot (part 2 of 2) in high-def. They had actually digitized the original in high-def.

The best part was that the resolution was so good, you could see two very distinct low-budget-TV tricks. The best one was a scene where the car was supposed to drive itself and there was clearly a dude in the driver seat wearing a mask that loooked like the seatback. It ends up looking like a monster is driving the car. It is so funny looking and hokey!

I tried to take a screenshot from the itunes version that I downloaded (YES, I bought it, OK!), but the resolution was too poor to see the monster driving the car.

It is almost like a DVD “easter egg” it’s so funny.

  2. Wow, I’m kinda shocked, but not over the video… I’m shocked at how much he sounds like David Bowie. The song even sounds like something Bowie would have written during his “Ziggy Stardust” phase. All he needs is a little bit of an accent and that would do it.

Also, what’s with him driving on the right side of the car?
