The work of Eduardo Valdivieso

I recently came across Trozo, a site for the work of Eduardo Valdivieso…

“…In this space he features acrylic paintings mixed with digital media. Using wood and classic canvas as a base, Trozo portrays different characters from contemporary life supported by bold strokes and type messaging…”

I really like his work a lot. If you’re in to it too, he’s got some limited edition prints for sale.

Site Colors

odl site colors

After a while of having a fairly bold color scheme for the site, I decided to swing in the total opposite direction, and go with something much more subdued.

I’m not sure if I like it yet. I’m still tweaking it, and I may add some of the color back in.

McDonald’s ‘Eat In’ Tax?

McDonalds Eat-In Tax

Last night I had dinner at my local McDonald’s, at 6th and Bryant. While I was eating I happened to glance down at my receipt, and noticed that they have an “Eat In” tax. WTF! I have to pay $.55 extra for sitting in their crappy plastic chairs? Next time I’ll order it to go, and then eat it there… that will show those capitalist bastards.

Is this a San Francisco thing, or do they do this everywhere?

UPDATE (8.01.06): I went to the same McDonald’s yesterday and ordered my food to go… sure enough, there was a “Take Out Tax”, using the same percentage. Why they just don’t call it “Tax” is beyond me, but I guess the mystery is solved.

Preview your site in IE7, from a Mac

one digital life in IE7

Want to see what your website will look like in IE7, from the comfort of your Mac? Daniel Vine has put together a great little online utility, called ieCapture, that will take a screen-shot of your site in IE7. This is very handy to see if your CSS is up to IE7 standards.

For you PC users, Daniel has also put together iCapture, which will show you what your site looks like in Apple’s Safari.

The system is still a little rough. I noticed that it sometimes takes the screen-shot before the page has loaded, so you end up with a blank screen. You may have to do it a couple of times before it works correctly. Also, once you submit the request, you just have to leave the page open, and hit refresh a little later to see if your site has been captured.

All-in-all it’s still a very handy tool, and it’s free. If you like the service, consider dropping Daniel a little donation, because as he puts it… Beer doesn’t grow on trees.

Babylon 5 added to iTunes

Babylon 5

Woohoo! Babylon 5 was just added to the iTunes music store. It’s one of my favorite shows. They only have season one for now, but I’m sure the other seasons will be added as time goes by. Here’s my chance to see the show from the beginning.

Oh, and a quick bit of trivia for you Lost fans out there. Do you remember Delen from Babylon 5 (the bald woman with what looks like a sea shell on her head)? That same actress is on Lost… guess what character she plays.

The other day I came across a new photoblog called The G8. I couldn’t find the photographers name, or any other information on the site, but I highly recommend checking out his / her work. It’s really stunning.
