Guess ‘Who’ is coming to the SciFi Channel

Tardis

That’s right, the classic SciFi show, Doctor Who, starts tonight on the SciFi Channel. As a kid I was a huge fan of this cheesier than cheese British masterpiece. I wanted to wear a long scarf, eat Jelly Babies, and travel through time in a ship that was larger on the inside than it is on the outside.

Of course, The last episode I saw starred Peter Davidson, and I haven’t watched it consistently since Tom Baker. So, I don’t have any idea how good the show is these days… but I can’t wait to find out.

Oh, and to show you how big of a geek I really am… my G5 desktop is named Gallifrey, and my iBook is named Tardis.

  1. I had kind of an “advanced screening” of the entire first season… if you know what I mean. We watched it back in November and yet we were still excited to see it air on SciFi. We’re excited because it’s actually REALLY good.

I’m not going to spoil anything… so don’t worry. But, seriously, reserve judgement for the first few episodes. Tom Eccleston will grow on you if he hasn’t already. His wit and charm almost have you convinced that this guy is for real, that there really is a TARDIS, that Time Lords DO exist… you’re in a for fun ride. Episode 1 is kinda cheesy, it’s a bit silly, but it’s perfect Doctor Who material. Episode 2 is touching if you let it… I’m not saying anything, I’m just saying, it’s a good one. My favorite episodes come later in the season, when things start getting really interesting…

Anyway, like I said, despite having seen them already, I’m totally looking forward to seeing them again. I just hope it does well here so we can get season 2 when it’s done.
