Google Blog Search

Google Blog Search

Today, Google announced Google Blog Search. As the name implies, it’s a search engine dedicated entirely to searching blogs. Like all things Google, it’s currently in Beta.

“Blog Search is Google search technology focused on blogs. Google is a strong believer in the self-publishing phenomenon represented by blogging, and we hope Blog Search will help our users to explore the blogging universe more effectively, and perhaps inspire many to join the revolution themselves.”

UPDATE: So it appears the Google Blog Search doesn’t actually know what a blog is. Apparently it’s just reading RSS feeds from around the web. You’ll see items in the results that are definitely not from blogs, they’re from online retailers (like buy.com), or any other site with an RSS feed.

  1. Just had to comment since this was how I found your blog, heh. Saw a page announcing Google’s new service and first thing I did was type in ‘Depeche Mode’ and you were one of the first few results that popped up.

    …just thought that was interesting.
