A few weeks ago we drove by this structure and had no idea what it was. We were in a hurry and didn’t have time to stop and investigate.
The temple is 40-foot tall and made out of extremely detailed plywood cutouts. It’s by sculptor, David Best, of Burning Man fame.
The sculpture is in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, in a new park where the Central Freeway once loomed. It will be up until mid-September, and then removed.

Damn, thats a nice temple! Ya got any close-ups of the detail?
I don’t have any, but there’s a couple of shots on the story from The SFGate… http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/06/17/BAG67DAASQ1.DTL&hw=david+best+hayes+valley&sn=003&sc=421
