Are you mac, or PC?

odl platform stats

Just a few days ago I installed Jeff Minard’s excellent WordPress plugin, WP-ShortStat. I am really surprised to see some of these numbers. According to this, the majority of my visitors are running some flavor of Windows. I would have never expected that. Yes, Windows has the majority of the market, but my site is so mac-centric that I would have expected a much larger mac readership. Do I really have enough content to keep Windows users interested?

Are you mac or PC? Let’s conduct a little informal survey shall we? Leave me a comment on this post, stating what operating system you run. Feel free to include any other stats… browser, monitor resolution, etc…

  1. I’m running Microsoft Windows 2000 with a resolution of 1280×1024 and for the love of all that is good, i use Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and not Internet Exploder.

  2. I owned an Amiga 2000 which was a wonderful machine that I adored.

However, it soured me on owning the (other machine)

Sony VAIO Windows XP Internet Explorer. Call me a conformist but even if I don’t think like the rest of the world does, it’s sometimes helpful to know the way the rest of the world experiences things.

  3. I am using a first generation iBook, the “blueberry” one.

  4. Wow, that’s a little more info than I was looking for. :)

Believe it or not, we’ve got the exact same machine downstairs, it’s even the same ‘flavor’. The only difference is its running OS 9.2. It actually belongs to anne marie (my girlfriend), but she doesn’t use it anymore. She primarily uses my old 1st generation Titanium Powerbook 500 mhz.

  5. Powerbook G4 and Dual G5 tower depending on if Im traveling or not… use a 23″ Cinema HD display as my external monior.

  6. Right now im using an awesome “less known brand” laptop with the Radeon X700 pci-e gfx card…running Windows Xp, modded to look like a mac. Since i use maya a lot, this laptop was too good an offer to miss!

I use and teach illustrator and photoshop at college using osx panther, so i dont really need a mac at home just now…most of my apps are still windows only…but im gonna wait for the Intel macs to come out, hopefully by then ill of saved up enuff cash for an awesome 17″ Powerbook.
