I had a little time today while I was waiting for some assets from a client, so I did a couple little updates on the site. First, I added the little weather bug back into the site (upper right corner). I’m still tweaking the CSS. I had it in the old design but hadn’t gotten around to putting it in this template. Thanks to the guys of at Sonicpling for developing such a great wordpress plugin. They are up to WeatherIcon 2.0 now, and it’s much easier to use than the 1.0 release.
I also added a Gravatar plugin by Skippy.net. What is a Gravatar you ask? Here’s a blurb from Gravatar.com…
“A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80×80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?”
Basically, a gravatar (or avatar) is the small image that appears next to forum posts, or blog comments. Some sites have there own, meaning that you upload a custom image for use on that site. The other method is to sign up at Gravatar.com, and like the quote above says, it will follow you from site to site.
Here’s how you do it. Go to Gravatar.com, and upload a small (80×80 pixel) image for yourself and associate an email address with it. Whenever you make a comment on a Gravatar enabled site (like this one), use that email address and your image will show up automatically. It’s easy to set up and it’s free.
