Today we saw Sin City. It stars Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Elijah Wood, Jessica Alba, and a many others. Surprisingly, one of the best performances in the movie is by Mickey Rourke (Marv). I was actually pretty impressed. I’m normally not a fan of his, but he did a really good job.
The movie is visually stunning (we saw it in digital projection). It’s meant to be kind of a graphic novel brought to life, and they pulled this off really well. Visual cues, and narrative style really gave Sin City an authentic “comic book” look and feel.
The film is kind of broken into 4 story lines, with some overlap between them. It lost 1 star because the relationship between these stories could have been much tighter. I was expecting something at the end that would really tie them together, but that never happened. And, although the movie is only just over 2 hours, it does feel long.
Sin City is definitely worth seeing. I highly recommend it.
