There was a story on NPR this morning about a proposition in Georgia that would require a picture ID to vote. Apparently they don’t require one now. There are a lot of people raising a stink, saying it will discourage some people from voting. Who are these people? Why don’t they have any sort of picture ID? It seems to me that most legal residents would have one.
Maybe it’s just me, but requiring a picture ID to vote doesn’t seem like an outrageous request. You need one to drive, you need one to cash a check.
To put this into context, in Georgia, you can get a gun license with nothing more than a utility bill as proof of identity. What are those people thinking?!?
