Current PowerBook and eMac “end of life” according to French retailer:
“FNAC, one of France’s largest electronics shops, says that their current supply of PowerBooks and eMacs are the last of their kind. That’s it. Kaput. No more. This means, at least to rumor mongers, that the product lines are dead and new models are expected. Could this be the long-awaited PowerBook G5? Or more likely, are we looking at that long overdue bump up in specs for the current line-up of G4s? Could this be the end of the eMac in favor of the Mac Mini? Will Apple combine all of these things into an iPhone? Will Steve Jobs eat Bill Gates’ spawn? Anyway, what this usually means is that retail shops are clearing out inventory to make room for a new model, natch. Pair that with reports of new G5 orders in remote factories and you probably have a new PowerBook sometime in February. We just can’t say for certain what number will be coming after the ‘G’.”
