The Bourne Supremacy

The Bourne Supremacy

2.5 Stars

Last night we went to see “The Bourne Supremacy”. I would have to say it was just OK. There really wasn’t anything special about it. I do think it could have used a bit more editing though. It felt like one long chase scene, with no real breaks. I wouldn’t really recommend The Bourne Supremacy, but I wouldn’t discourage someone from seeing it either. I thought the first one (The Bourne Identity) was a better movie.

Doug Chiang’s Robota

Doug Chiang's Robata

5 Stars

Doug Chiang (DC Studio) has spent several years producing a “movie book” called Robota. He has along the way made some very cool trailers for the book. The trailers were so good infact that there was some confusion on whether he was making a book, or a movie. I’ve checked in on his progress from time to time because I like the movies so much. The book was released last year (2003). I highly reccomend checking out his site.

The Apple Product Cycle

Dan, at Mister BG, has written a hilarious, and oh so accurate analysis of the Apple product cycle. It begins:

“An obscure component manufacturer somewhere in the Pacific Rim announces a major order for some bleeding-edge piece of technology that could conceivably become part of an expensive, digital-lifestyle-enhancing nerd toy.

Some hardware geek, the sort who actually reads press releases from obscure Pacific Rim component manufacturers, posts a link to the press release in a Mac Internet forum.

The Mac rumor sites spring into action. Liberally quoting “reliable” sources inside Cupertino, irrelevant “experts,” and each other, they quickly transform baseless speculation into widely accepted fact.

Eager Mac-heads fan the flames by flooding the Mac discussion forums with more groundless conjecture. Threads pop up around feature wish lists, favorite colors, and likely retail price points. In a matter of days, a third-hand, unsubstantiated rumor blossoms into a hand-held device that can do everything except find a girlfriend for a fat, smelly nerd.”

Home needed for Whispers

Remember this email that circulated a while back…

“Once again, i am sending out the call for help. as you know by now, aaron and i foster (sometimes) and place pets when and if we can. this latest sweetie is a stray we think, and as you can see, fresh from the bath. the problem is that sometimes when i get out of the shower, he is staring at me while i dry off and it gives me the heebies. so, if you know of anyone who might be interested in this special cuddler, let us know.”

iTunes Link Maker

iTunes Link Maker

If you maintain a personal web site, or blog, and you use Apple’s iTunes, you can have links on you site to your favorite songs by using the iTunes Link Maker web page. Just specify what song you want to listen to and it will generate a bit of code that you can put in your site. The code makes a link that will launch iTunes and go to that song when clicked. Click the image above to go to the iTunes Link Maker.

I’ve included a link below to a song I recently bought so you can see how it works…

Shaving Cream: Steam Repellant

A while back I posted a story about shaving cream being a miracle stain remover. Now I’ve learned that it is also a very effective steam repellant. It can prevent your bathroom mirror from steaming up during a hot shower. Using a soft cloth, rub a small amount of shaving cream (foam type, not gel) all over the mirror. Wait a minute, then using another soft cloth, rub the haze off the mirror until it is clean. Presto… the mirror will not fog up during your next shower.

In the Pod-House

Marcin Panpuch glass sphere house

Polish-born architect Marcin Panpuch has designed a spherical, transparent houseboat designed to solve London’s housing shortage. The sphere would be divided into three floors, each built around a central core holding the stairs, kitchen, and bathroom. Inhabitants would use the lower floor as a bedroom, the upper floor as a living space, and the bottom floor (below the surface of the river) for storage, water tanks, heating, and computers. Retractable screens would be used for privacy, although you gotta wonder how much privacy you’d really get bobbing about in a big bubble on a river in the middle of London.

George W. Bush: Wordsmith

George W. Bush Learns to read

A friend sent me some words of wisdom from George W. Bush…

“The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country.”

“If we don’t succeed, we run the risk of failure.”
– George W. Bush

“One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is ‘to be prepared’.”
